Italy’s Motor Valley Car Stackers Make for Luxury Property Play

Car industry disruptor Nexion Oceania is bringing car stackers to the luxury market as the tech transitions to commercial and residential developments.

The international automotive workshop equipment supplier is part of the $500 million-plus Nexion holding company based in Italy’s Motor Valley.

Nexion acquired Adelaide-based car hoist and lift company Molnar in 2019 along with Corghi to cement its position in Australia.

However, it is the value proposition for new and existing developments that is propelling the company in the Australian market.

Car stacker can double the parking, halve the space and improve the numbers on developments.

Nexion Oceana general manager Claudio Bertozzi said car stackers could add space or display luxury vehicles depending on the requirements.

“You’ve got the big villa mansion customer—they don’t want to invest in a large parking spaces because they have rooms or bathrooms or swimming pools to build,” Bertozzi said.

“A car stacker is ideal because you can keep the garage small, and you can stack up to four cars depending on the width and height of the space.

“Even in South Australia, which has more space than other states, the square metre cost for building commercial or residential compared to the parking is more valuable.

“In luxury residential it doubles the quantity of parking normally available for a site.”

The Sydney-based manager said developers wanted quality and assurance that the technology was reliable.

“I’m convinced that all real estate developers need a solution like our car stackers and the biggest mistake they could make is going to a competitor in the Far East,” Bertozzi said.

However, if developers and architects want to maximise parking in a new development, a car stacking option has to be considered early on in the process.

“The best time is well before the concrete is laid,” Bertozzi said.

“We have a design department that is very specialised and can work with architects and developers because it is a lot harder to rectify issues once the slab is laid.”

Nexion Oceania also designs workshops and car dealership spaces where luxury cars can be stacked and presented almost as “beautifully as flowers”.

“They work even in car dealerships and workshops where you need to walk around the vehicles,” Bertozzi said.

“We can help to place the air lines, the oils, the recycling and we have cabinets and other accessories.

“It is the difference between a very nice polished tidy workshop and a very messy, greasy, untidy workshop.”

Despite the obvious advantages of designing with car stackers in mind, Bertozzi said they had retrofitted existing commercial spaces.

“We were working with a medical practice with nine parking spaces and 20 doctors,” Bertozzi said.

“They came to us because they were starting to get annoyed about driving around looking for paid parking.

“We submitted the idea of a two-stack model and it worked very well because all the doctors were working on rosters and there was enough space for everyone.”

Nexion Oceania’s products are an essential solution for dealerships and developers who face increasing space constraints.

The car stackers are built to last for life and guaranteed for life outdoors as well, backed by Molnar, the oldest hoists manufacturer and brand in Australia that was established in 1952.
