‘Cinematic’ Hotel Makeover Under Way in Sydney CBD

Share-worthy features that celebrate the building's use in the film industry are designed by SJB Architects.

Construction has begun on a $275-million, 20-storey hotel project in Sydney’s CBD by joint developers INT.RE and Icon Oceania.

The five-star Florin Hotel at 499 Kent Street will reshape the former Australian headquarters of Universal Pictures, and sprinkle cinematic elements throughout its 228 rooms, according to the developers.

A “vertigo suite” on the 18th storey will feature a glass floor while the building’s dynamic 3D facade will respond to the level of light throughout the day.
