Student Switch Approved for Adelaide Tourist Tower

An Adelaide developer has won the nod to convert an approval for a CBD hotel tower to a modular 572-bed student housing facility that its project director says is a first for South Australia.

The hotel building and an adjacent residential tower planned by the developer, Auta Group, for a 2112sq m block at 108 to 112A Franklin Street were approved in November 2024.

On January 14, SA’s State Commission Assessment Panel approved a variation that will allow a 24-floor student accommodation tower to be built in lieu of the hotel building.
