Marathon Concrete Pour for McNab’s Gold Coast Tower

After a year-long excavation, an 18-hour marathon to pour 1424 cubic metres of concrete has marked the start of McNab’s Elements Budds Beach tower moving skywards.
More than 200 concrete trucks were required to deliver 20,000 wheelbarrows worth of concrete to the site of the $175-million luxury residential tower now rising at 21 Oak Avenue, Surfers Paradise.
The project, which is being delivered in partnership with Mitsubishi Estate Asia and Ray White Capital, comprises a four-level basement carpark and a 27-storey tower.
McNab executive chairman Michael McNab was on the site for the pour, which was a year in the making.
“Completing this raft slab in a single day allows it to cure as a seamless unified structure, providing an incredibly strong foundation for the 27 levels of residences along with the rooftop pool above,” McNab said.
“In today’s market, certainty in quality is just as much a luxury as the amenities and finishes.
“We wanted our buyers to see the engineering for themselves, to stand on the slab and understand the scale and substance of what is being built before the building goes vertical.”
The excavation also revealed a collection of ancient shells, offering insight into the coastline’s evolution over tens of thousands of years. The shells were preserved and will be incorporated into the lobby design to “tell a story that extends far beyond the tower itself”, McNab said.
The tower will comprise 87 apartments—75 per cent have sold with 22 homes remaining.

The rooftop of the Cottee Parker-designed tower will offer 360-degree views across the Broadwater, hinterland and Pacific Ocean.
Amenities include a rooftop pool, private dining spaces, sauna and gym.
Motiv managing director Carly Cottam, who is marketing the project, said the milestone was important for buyers because it signposted the transition of the project from vision to something tangible.
“We’re continuing to see solid demand from buyers who recognise Budds Beach as one of the Gold Coast’s most tightly held lifestyle pockets,” Cottam said.
”Over the past five years, median apartment prices in Surfers Paradise—which includes Budds Beach—have risen by 81 per cent.”
Elements Budds Beach is slated for completion in early 2028.
