
Costing up to $370 billion, the buying, building and hosting of up to 13 nuclear submarines under the trilateral AUKUS pact will be the largest defence spend in Australia’s history.
It also promises to transform the mid-sized metropolises of Adelaide and Perth.
Medium-term activity alone will be mind-boggling, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese promising two massive “down payments” on the 30-year megaproject.
