Bronxx Finds Way Around Sydney Hotel Height Rejection

The developer behind a Darling Harbour hotel proposal has found its way around a court's rejection of its bid to go to 17 storeys.

Plans by developer Bronxx for a $54.2-million part 17, part 18-storey hotel were rejected in 2023, and confirmed as unsuitable by the Land and Environment Court that year. In April of last year, plans were approved for a 16-storey hotel.

But Bronxx will indeed build a 17-storey hotel—by squeezing an extra floor into existing plans after the project slated for 311-317 Sussex Street in Darling Harbour won the green light from the City of Sydney for modifications.
